At Orendarvada, we addressed a critical market need: the challenge of delivering truly bespoke lighting solutions that perfectly align with the unique aesthetic and functional demands of specialized architectural spaces. Standardized products often fall short, while traditional custom processes are lengthy. Our objective was to develop a sophisticated digital platform to streamline the entire lifecycle, from initial concept to precise manufacturing. We aimed to enhance creative freedom, ensure technical accuracy, and significantly improve project delivery and client satisfaction by democratizing access to high-end, custom lighting.
Our UX/UI strategy prioritized an intuitive, highly visual environment. We developed an interactive 3D configurator, enabling real-time visualization of lighting fixtures within simulated environments, complete with dynamic light simulations. Users select from a vast library of modular components, materials, and light sources, instantly assessing aesthetic and photometric impacts. The interface features a collaborative workspace for seamless communication and iterative feedback. Responsive design principles ensure a consistent and robust experience across devices, crucial for studio and on-site presentations.
The platform is built upon a resilient microservices framework, ensuring scalability and independent deployment. The backend, primarily Python with FastAPI, handles complex design logic, material management, and project data. For the interactive frontend, React.js, augmented with WebGL-powered libraries like Three.js, renders intricate 3D models and lighting simulations with exceptional fidelity. Data persistence uses PostgreSQL for structured project data and a document database for flexible storage of design metadata. Our infrastructure leverages AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS) for high availability. CI/CD pipelines via GitLab CI automate testing and deployment. Crucially, direct integration with industry-standard CAD/CAM systems ensures validated designs translate directly into manufacturing instructions, minimizing errors.
The project followed an agile methodology, structured into focused sprints. Initial development prioritized the core 3D configurator and fundamental project management features. Rigorous testing protocols included comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with professional designers and key clients provided invaluable feedback, directly informing subsequent development. Performance testing for the demanding 3D rendering engine and complex data queries was continuously conducted to guarantee optimal responsiveness and scalability.
Post-UAT, we implemented several iterative enhancements.
